Just 20 minutes north of the lake is The Tobacco Heritage Trail - a Rail-to-Trailproject that runs 18 miles from LaCrosse to Lawrenceville. There are 5 miles of paved trail (LaCrosse to Broadnax) and 13 miles of gravel (Broadnax to Lawrenceville). Because it's an old rail line, it's wide and relatively flat. We like to enter at the Evans Creek trailhead and ride east out to Lawrenceville, or west to Broadnax. Either way it's a beautiful ride through the woods. You can also park at the Mecklenburg-Brunswick airport trailhead on regional airport road and ride the paved section.
